The shelf

Monograph is one collector’s fragrance library, opened up by the millilitre. Every bottle here is one I bought retail, wear, and rate — ultraniche and indie houses, Art & Olfaction winners and finalists, numbered editions, and a few sold-out unicorns you can’t sample anywhere else.

Why decants

Niche fragrance has a discovery problem: $200–$600 bottles, no counters to try them at, and one rushed sniff tells you nothing. A decant gives you weeks with a scent — on your skin, in your weather, through real days. Then you hunt the full bottle, or you don’t. Either way you never blind-buy again.

The method

I. Pick. Browse the Index — every fragrance lists its full note pyramid and provenance.

II. We pour. Your order is decanted by hand with sterile syringes into a fresh glass vial, labeled with the fragrance and pour date, and sealed the day it ships.

III. You wear. 2 ml is roughly 20–30 wearings. Live with it. The good ones will tell you.
