Ciny Ye's composition reconstructs a Beijing childhood: street vendors hawking tang hu lu, candied hawthorn skewers glittering red against the snow, the smoke of Pu-erh tea drifting from a hot pot somewhere down the alley. Hawthorn opens sweet-tart and almost startlingly bright, a fruit-acid joy that immediately calls up something cellular and pre-verbal. Dried tangerine peel meets smoky Pu-erh in the heart — a rare and opulent pairing that lends both depth and unmistakable specificity. Patchouli cools the base like snow blanketing rooftops; guaiac wood warms the silence underneath. Comforting, nostalgic, and so locally rooted it almost feels like a private letter.
