Here it's the architecture. Cade oil and cedar open resinous and burnt, the smell of scorched wood rather than smouldering incense. Isobutyl quinoline enters as the composition settles and the leather turns dark and almost graphite-grey — chemical and fiercely elegant simultaneously, like the interior of a brutalist building that has been rained on. Indonesian patchouli and Haitian vetiver add earthy mineral density; labdanum prevents the whole from becoming purely industrial. Elemi and resin in the base give the drydown a faintly luminous cold quality.
